Benefits of a Morning Run

Writer's picture: organic sooorganic soo

Here's a short video of my morning run in Stanley Park and Sunset Beach Park in west Vancouver, BC. I enjoyed the beautiful scenery that Vancouver has to offer. Make sure you watch until the end. =P

Here are the reasons why I run in the morning:

Increases heart rate and burns calories throughout the day. Although I try to eat healthy 70% of the time, I don't feel guilty eating the foods I enjoy 30% of the time.

You don't need a gym membership to run. When I'm travelling, running is the best way for me to stay fit and sweat off the stress. It is especially beneficial to people such as myself who travel a lot with unpredictable schedules. It's free and it allows the flexibility to exercise anywhere in the world. During the winter, I travel to warmer cities or choose indoor activities.

Exercise releases endorphins and helps me feel good to start the day. The good hormones helps with productivity, while making better decisions throughout the day. It also helps with keeping the cortisol or stress levels down.

It's not too hot or dark. For safety reasons, it's best to run when it's bright to avoid any accidents. Also, staying out of the sun during mid-day between 11am-3pm is preferred to minimize harmful UV rays.

Improves quality of sleep. I generally don't eat or do exercise at least 3 hours before I go to sleep. Your body should be winding down instead of being stimulated. Sleeping between 10pm-11pm is optimal to benefit from the naturally occurring repair hormones.
